The Hands (About)

Hi! My name is Courtni, I am the hands behind Thread Bender.

My Grandma taught me to hand sew when I was a young girl spending my summers with her. I started seriously sewing as an adult by learning all that I could from YouTube (you can learn ANYTHING there!) And when I realized just how much I enjoyed it and wanted to possibly make a career out of it, I decided to invest in formal lessons.

I studied Fashion Technology and Production Services at Orange Technical College in Orlando, Florida from 2018-2019. I focused on Costumes, Accessories, and Lingerie.

Here is my amazing group of models that walked in outfits made for our class fashion show, which counted as our final!

After completion of my program I went to work at a trendy tailoring and alterations shop in the heart of Downtown Orlando. I continued my education through an apprenticeship at the Tailoring shop, learning production skills, pinning for alterations, social media management, and numerous other things- too many to even list.

Last year I won First place in my category and Best In Show at The Fall Fiber Festival in Orlando! It was a huge personal accomplishment, and such an honor. I have also completed Universal Studio's sewing competency test, and plan to keep practicing and learning for the rest of my life!
